Key points from NSW Health on COVID

Key points from NSW Health on COVID-19 for 13 August 2021
• NSW recorded 390 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. At least 60 cases were infectious in the community for all or most of their infectious period.
• Workplaces and households continue to be the biggest source of infection.
• Case numbers are still highest in south and southwest Sydney Blacktown, Mt Druitt and adjoining areas are areas of concern. Make sure you know the rules in your area and come forward for testing if you have even mild symptoms.
• There have also been new cases in the Hunter New England region, Walgett and Dubbo. People in those communities should follow the stay at home orders, get tested if they have any symptoms and get vaccinated as soon as they can.
• Yesterday, more than 105,000 people received a vaccination. Protect yourselves, your families, your loved ones and your community by coming forward to get vaccinated. Anyone 18 and older can get vaccinated. You can go to the Vaccine Eligibility Checker or use Hot Doc to find appointments available near you.
• There are a number of walk-in clinics for vaccination
• From Monday, 100,000 16-39 year old authorised workers in Greater Sydney LGAs of concern will be offered a vaccination. Information on this will be available at nsw.gov.au over the weekend.
• COVID-19 isn’t just an older person’s disease. The 20-29 age group has had the biggest case numbers over the last 14 days. Please take the stay at home orders as seriously as you possibly can and follow the health advice.
